Course Overview

Course Introduction

We are taught that it is prudent to be positive and consistent with your emotions at your workplace, while focusing on work related tasks. As human beings, cutting ourselves off from our emotions during the work day can be very hard and may produce a negative outcome in terms of productivity and innovation. Dr. Susan A. David, cofounder of the Institute of Coaching, Harvard Medical School, and author of the book Emotional Agility, has a different take on the subject of emotions at work.
 
In this course, Dr. David shares insights on why being emotionally agile can make you more productive and able to take on new projects. She discusses why it is essential to have the tools to be emotionally agile, her philosophy on dealing with emotions and thoughts in a way that helps us reach our potential, and her belief that it is important to acknowledge all emotions. She talks about the concept of being on emotional autopilot, the current emphasis on achieving happiness, and how cultural norms control our behavior.
